The Langtang Valley rests on the lap of the Himalayas north to Kathmandu bordering Tibet. It is a popular trekking destination which offers the beautiful scenery of the Langtang Himal range, with mountains Langtang Lirung (7234M), Dorje Lakpa (6966M), Kyunga Ri (6601) to name a few.

This trek takes you to the remote destination of Langtang valley, with epic mountain scenery and the unique culture of the Tamang settlement. The trek comprises of beautiful locations as Gosaikunda, Helambu valley and Kyangjin Gompa. The beautiful mountain lake of Gosaikunda and surrounding 108 lakes, is a sacred pilgrimage of Hindus. Another culturally and spiritually important place is Kyangjin Gompa. The path to the Gompa follows several side valleys, icy glaciers and the mountain scenery of Lantang and Ganesh Himal. It is like a completely different world, authentic and unspoiled beauty of Himalayas. The Helambu valley is a colorful pace with artistic Buddhist monastery and culture. You can venture inside the Langtang national park filled with evergreen forests of pines, oaks, maple, and rhododendrons and animals like the Himalayan black bear, red pandas and much more.

The Langtang region was badly affected by the earthquake in 2015. However, the region has been declared safe for trekking again after detailed study.

Detailed itinerary for Langtang Valley Trek

Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu

You will be picked up by a representative of Himalayan Sewa Expedition and Trekking and transferred to the Kathmandu Eco Hotel by our private tourist vehicle. You have the free evening and overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Pre-Departure Meeting and Kathmandu Tour

After breakfast, we will organize a pre-departure meeting for providing the detail information about your tour and treks by our Guide. During our meeting clear all the remaining dues if any, bring 3 copies of passport size photos, copy of your passport and travel insurance policy. Please feel free to ask any queries with our guide related to your trekking regions. After meeting, our excellent tour guide will take you for Kathmandu valley sightseeing in private tourist vehicle. During the tour, you will visit the major historical, cultural and religious center of Kathmandu valley including Swyambhunath Stupa (The Monkey Temple), Kathmandu Durbar Square, Boudhanath Stupa and Pashupatinath Temple. Our tour guide will explain to you about the cultural, historical and religious importance of these places in brief during the tour. You will be transferred to hotel after your tour. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1503M) [7-8hrs]

After breakfast, our staff will pick you from your hotel and drop you to the bus station. Then we will hop on a bus to Syabrubesi. The ride takes about 8 hrs. We head to the north from Kathmandu driving along the Trisuli River and passing through beautiful foothills and the village of Dunche. Syabrubesi is the starting point of the Langtang valley trek.

Day 4: Trek to Lama Hotel (2500M)

Today we begin our trek from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel after a good breakfast. Our trail passes along Langtang Khola with fresh mountain air, beautiful scenery and landscapes. After about 7 hours we reach Lama hotel. Overnight at Lamahotel.

Day 5: Trek to Langtang Village (3430M)

From Lama Hotel we start our trek to enter the Langtang Village. While enjoying the beautiful mountain scenery and passing through several small villages, gentle waterfalls we will ascend towards the old village of the Langtang valley. The mountain scenery from Langtang Valley is exceptional. You will be able to see snowcapped peaks of Langtang Himal range like Langtang Lirung (7227M). The major inhabitants of this valley are Tamang people. We can also experience the beautiful Tamang culture.

Day 6: Trek from Langtang Village to Kyangjin Gompa (3830M)

After a good breakfast, we will start our journey towards Kyangjin Gompa. Our trail today gently ascends while following beautifully stone carved mani walls. Kyangjin Gompa is an ancient Buddhist monastery that truly reflects the Tibetan influence on the region. It is a spiritual place which breathtaking scenery of icy glaciers and the Himalayas. Overnight at Kyangjin Gompa.

Day 7: Trek to Kyangjin Ri (4773M) or Tserko Ri (4984M)

Today we can decide whether we want to ascend to Kyangjin Ri (4773M) or Tserko Ri (4984M), the highest elevation of the entire trek. Both the peaks provide a beautiful panoramic view of the Langtang range. The sunrise as seen from these peaks is awe inspiring.

Later on, we descend back to Kyangjin Gompa and explore the beautiful monastery and the famous cheese factory. The grazing yak pastures, glaciers, beautiful meadows, birds and animals are another sight to see.

Day 8: Trek from Kyangjin Gompa to Langtang valley

After a good breakfast, we trace our steps back to the Langtang valley while enjoying the beautiful scenery, wildlife, forests and passing through traditional Tamang villages.

Day 9: Trek from Langtang valley to Lamahotel

We further trace our steps back to Lamahotel while leaving the beautiful mountains.

Overnight at Lamahotel.

Day 10: Trek to Syabrubesi from Lamahotel

After enjoying breakfast at Lamahotel, we then descend towards Syabrubesi our ending point of the trek.

Day 11: Drive from Syabrubesi to Kathmandu and Farewell Dinner

Today we will hop on a bus back to Kathmandu. The ride takes about 8 hrs, passing through beautiful foothills and villages.

In the evening you can take a short walk around Thamel if you need to purchase some souvenirs to take back to your country.  We will provide you a fully sponsored farewell dinner for your great achievement in successfully completing the Trek at a restaurant of your choice or our home. Stay overnight in the hotel.

Day 12: Departure from Kathmandu

You will be transferred to the international airport for your final departure with our company van. It’s our great pleasure to organize your tour and thanks for joining the team of Himalayan Sewa Expedition and trekking.

The trip includes the following services:

1. Airport pick up and drop off by private vehicle
2. Well experience trekking guide/s
3. Porters/s (a porter carries up to 25 kg luggage for 2 people)
4. Entry permit for Annapurna Conservation Area Project
5. Trekkers information management service(TIMS) card
6. All meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) during the trekking
7. Tourist standard hotel in Kathmandu and Pokhara with breakfast basis for a single night.
8. Tea house/ guest house basis accommodation during the trek (we recommend the hotel in Kathmandu and Pokhara according to your budget.)
9. Sleeping bag, down jacket duffle bags and trekking poles, etc. (as per your need.)
10. All land transportation where applicable
11. Insurance and equipment for our trekking staffs
12. First aid kits
13. One farewell dinner in Kathmandu with a live cultural performance at Authentic Nepal restaurant on the last evening.

The following equipment list is suggested an essential for camping or tea house trekking in the Himalayas. Equipment can be bought in Kathmandu or Pokhara as well. Make sure that you at least have the following listed items.
1. One large duffel bag for your personal gears
2. One small padlock for your duffel bag
3. One rucksack or day bag/pack according to the needs of your personal belongings

5. Sunhats, Sunglasses, warm hats, sunscreens, lip care
