Introduction

The Everest region has always been an adventurous and popular destination for people all over the world who want a glimpse of the magnificent –Mt Everest (8848M) the highest peak on earth. The Everest Base Camp Trek is a journey on the foothills of Everest filled with adventure in addition to breathtaking mountain scenery.

The route to the basecamp is filled with ridges and well known trails carved with Buddhist prayer stones that lead towards the colorful villages of Sherpa people located at soaring altitudes. The trek starts at Lukla and as we move to the upper regions we can experience the lush hills, splendid forests filled with rhododendrons and the amazing hospitality and culture of Sherpa people. The point of interest of this trek is the amazing city of Namche Bazar (3440M), gateway to the high Himalaya and remote mountain monasteries and culture. The beauty of this isolated region cannot be explained in words. You have to visit the region yourself to understand and experience its breathtaking views and warm hearts of the people who live on the lap of Everest.

Day 1: Arrive at Kathmandu

Day 2: Pre-trip meeting and sightseeing around Kathmandu Valley

Day 3: Fly to Lukla (2840M.) and Trek to Phakding (2610M)

Day 4: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m) [5 – 6hrs]

Day 5: Acclimatization Day at Namche Bazaar (3,440m)

Day 6: Namche Bazaar to Dole (4200M.) [6-7 hours]

Day 7: Dole to Machherma (4470m) [4-5 hours]

Day 8: Machherma to Gokyo (4800m) [4-5 hours]

Day 9: Acclimitization at Gokyo Valley

Day 10: Gokyo Ri Hike to Thaknak (4750m) [4-5 hours]

Day 11: Thaknak to Dzongla (4830m) via Cho-La pass [7-8hours]

Day 12: Dzongla to Lobuche (4940M) [2-3hrs]

Day 13: Lobuche to Gorakshep (5170M) to Everest Base Camp (5364M) and back to Gorakshep [8/9 hours]

Day 14: Gorakshep to Kalapathar, and back to Pheriche (4280m) [8/9 hours]

Day 15: Pheriche to Namche Bazaar (3440m) [5/6 hours]

Day 16: Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2800m)

Day17: Fly back to Kathmandu and Farewell Dinner

Day 18: Departure from Kathmandu

 

Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu

You will be picked up by representative of Himalayan Sewa Expedition and Trekking and transferred to the Kathmandu Eco Hotel by our private tourist vehicle. You have the free evening and overnight at hotel.

Day 2: Pre-Departure Meeting and Kathmandu Tour

After breakfast we will organize a pre-departure meeting for providing the detail information about your tour and treks by our Guide. During our meeting clear all the remaining dues if any, bring 3 copies of passport size photos, copy of your passport and travel insurance policy. Please feel free to ask any queries with our guide related to your trekking regions. After meeting, our excellent tour guide will take you for Kathmandu valley sightseeing in private tourist vehicle. During the tour, you will visit major historical, cultural and religious center of Kathmandu valley including Swyambhunath Stupa (The Monkey Temple), Kathmandu Durbar Square, Boudhanath Stupa and Pashupatinath Temple. Our tour guide will explain you about the cultural, historical and religious importance of these places in brief during the tour. You will be transferred to hotel after your tour. Overnight at hotel.

Day 3: Fly to Lukla (2840M.) and Trek to Phakding (2610M)

Our staff will pick you up from your hotel and drop you to the airport where you will hop on a flight to Lukla. The flight takes about 40 minutes. It is one of the most beautiful air routes with exceptional mountain scenery. Lukla is a small town with a domestic airport at the end of the town. The airport has a short and small airstrip, and often called the most dangerous airport in the world. It is also the starting point for all the trekkers looking to reach the Everest base camp.

After having lunch at Lukla, we begin our journey towards Phakding. Breathing in the fresh mountain air ang enjoying magnificent forests we will reach Phakding after 3-4hrs. Overnight at Phakding.

Day 4: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m) [5 – 6hrs]

Our journey for today begins at Phakding along the Dudh Koshi River. Crossing beautiful forests of pines and rhododendrons we reach the valley of Bengkar. The route today has various suspension bridges over the rivers that add a certain thrill to the climb. From Bengkar, it is an uphill climb towards Namche Bazaar. On our way to Namche, we will also cross several Sherpa villages and Buddhist monasteries that truly reflect the culture of Sherpa people.

Namche Bazaar is the capital of Solukhumbu region, a colorful town with beautiful views of Mt Everest. Overnight at Namche Bazaar.

Day 5: Acclimatization Day at Namche Bazaar (3,440m)

Namche Bazaar is a pit stop for trekkers on the Everest base camp trekking route. Today we will spend our day with an acclimatization hike to the Khumjung Valley (3780M.) It is a beautiful village with Sherpa settlement located inside Sagarmatha National Park. We can visit several monasteries and also Khumjung School built by Sir Edmund Hillary in 1961.After that, we will be hike back to Namche Bazaar.

We will spend the rest of our time exploring Namche, the beautiful Sherpa village and Sherpa museum- where we can learn a lot about Sherpa culture and traditions. Namche also has colorful local markets, shops, restaurants and lounges worth exploring. Overnight at Namche.

[Optionally, you can choose for an acclimatization hike to Everest view hotel, from where you can enjoy the splendid views of Everest, Lhoste, Kusum, Ama Dablam and much more peaks in The Everest range.]

Day 6: Namche Bazaar to Dole (4200M.) [6-7 hours]

For our journey today, we will trek to Dole from Namche Bazaar. The route has gradual ups and downs, leading to several stone steps and Mani walls. Following the magnificent views of the snow covered mountains, we will trek to Phorste Thanga (3680M.)

From Phorste, it an uphill trek to the village of Dole, where we will overnight.

Day 7: Dole to Machherma (4470m) [4-5 hours]

From Dole it is an uphill climb towards Machherma along the Dudh Koshi River. Today’s trek offers the first view of Mt Cho Yu, sixth highest mountain in the world. We will also pass through villages of Lapharma and Luja which are decorated with colorful chortens, before reaching Maccherma.

Day 8:  Machherma to Gokyo (4800m) [4-5 hours]

Today is the day we trek towards the Gokyo valley via Gokyo lakes. The route today is an absolute treat to the eyes as we walk pass some of the biggest mountains in the world. A moderate uphill takes us to the village of Phanga. We then walk toward the Ngozumba Glacier, and cross an iron bridge over a stream that lead us to Gokyo lands. The Taboche Tsho, Gokyo Tsho, Dudh Pokhari lakes are mesmerizing. Mt Cho Yu, acts a beautiful white backdrop to the Gokyo valley making the scenery absolutely breathtaking.

Day 9: Acclimitization at Gokyo Valley

Gokyo valley offers the best views of the Everest range. We will spend our day exploring Gokyo valley and its surroundings. For the acclimatization climb we will hike to the fourth and fifth lake of Gokyo lakes. The fifth lake offers the best view of Ngozumba glacier, the longest glacier.in Nepal. The view of the south and north slopes of the mighty Everest is splendid from this lake. Later on, we will hike back to Gokyo valley.

Day 10:  Gokyo Ri Hike to Thaknak (4750m) [4-5 hours]

Today we start early, with a morning hike to Gokyo Ri (5630M). It takes about 2-3 hours to reach the peak of Gokyo Ri. Gokyo Ri provides the best panoramic view of Everest range including Cho Yu, Everest, Lhoste, Makalu. The view of Ngozumab glacier and Gokyo valley as seen from the peak is astounding. After savoring the mesmerizing scenery, it’s a downhill climb back to Gokyo.

From Gokyo valley we will then trek towards Thaknak, a small settlement located at foot of Cho-La pass. Overnight at Thaknak.

Day 11:  Thaknak to Dzongla (4830m) via Cho-La pass [7-8hours]

After a hearty breakfast, we will start our trek from Gokyo. Today’s trek is difficult passing through steep and rocky trails, often covered in snow. The route is slippery and requires extra care while climbing. As we reach the top of Cho-La pass we get a magnificent view of Ama Dablam. The descent from Cho-La pass, also has icy glaciers trails. After that it is a moderate walk to Dzongla village.

Day 12: Dzongla to Lobuche (4940M) [2-3hrs]

Our journey today is short, starting from Dzongla to Lobuche. It is a beautiful route filled with exceptional mountain scenery. We get to rest early and build up energy for the Everest Base camp trek.

Day 13:  Lobuche to Gorakshep (5170M) to Everest Base Camp (5364M) and back to Gorakshep [8/9 hours]

Today we will finally visit Everest Base Camp. It will be a long day. We will first pass through rocky trails and creases leading to Gorkha Shep. After reaching Gorkha Shep, we join the main trail to Everest Base Camp. The most beautiful mountain scenery in the entire planet will be right before our eyes, as we again pass through rocks, moraines and streams before reaching EBC.

After reaching the Base Camp, we can see the entire white backdrop of Everest Range and mountaineers dressed in colorful clothing’s. It will be an unforgettable experience.

We then retrace our steps back to Gorkha Shep. Overnight at Gorkha Shep.

Day 14:  Gorakshep to Kalapathar, and back to Pheriche (4280m) [8/9 hours]

We start early today, to see the sunrise from Kalaptthar. Kalapathar translates to black rocks in Nepali. The view of the lonely Everest is closest from Kalapthar and the sun rising above Everest as seen from here is breathtaking. The 360 degree panoramic view can be seen from the peak of Kalapathar.

After that we will trek back to Gorkha Shep and then head toward Pheriche. Descent to Pheriche is quite easy. Overnight at Pheriche.

Day 15:  Pheriche to Namche Bazaar (3440m) [5/6 hours]

From Pheriche, we descend towards Namche Bazzar. The descent is easy and fast passing through forests of pines and rhododendrons. We will pass through Sherpa villages of Pangoboche and Tengboche. We will also visit the monastery at Tengboche.

Day 16:  Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2800m)

After Breakfast, we will retrace our steps back to Lukla from Namche Bazzar. Overnight at Lukla.

Day 17: Fly back to Kathmandu and Farewell Dinner

Today we will hop in a flight back to Kathmandu. In the evening you can take a short walk around Thamel if you need to purchase some souvenirs to take back to your country.  We will provide you a fully sponsored farewell dinner for your great achievement in successfully completing the Trek at a restaurant of your choice or our home. Stay overnight in hotel.

Day 18: Departure from Kathmandu

You will be transferred to the international airport for your final departure by our company van.

The trip includes following services:

3. Porters/s (a porter carries up to 25 kg luggage for 2 person)
4. Entry permit for Annapurna Conservation Area Project
5. Trekkers information management service(TIMS) card

8. Tea house/ guest house basis accommodation during trek (we recommend hotel in Kathmandu and Pokhara according to your budget.)

The following equipment list are suggested and essential for camping or tea house trekking in the Himalayas. Equipment can be bought in Kathmandu or Pokhara as well. Make sure that you at least have following listed items.
